About the writer

Assuming you’ll stick around past the first few blogs I should think you’ll learn quite a bit about me over time. But for those with as much patience as myself, I’ll give you a more abbreviated rundown of who I am.
Writing is and has been my favorite creative outlet for a long time. I don’t claim to be particularly good, but I do love it. I’ve wanted to write novels, scripts, stories, poems, articles, essays, and finally, blogs. My passion for automobiles can probably be matched for my interest in movies, and choosing which subject to write about on a set basis was a difficult choice. I chose cars not only because of the convenience (as I no longer can make it to the movies every weekend) but because after taking an interest in an automotive blog I realized I really do love this subject more than anything. It only took writing about it to make me aware.

As for me personally, I turned 30 years old in 2014, and as depressing as that could be, the shock was tempered by a truck-load of newfound joys in my life. In the fall of 2013 I married the love of my life, after which we promptly bought our first house outside of Anoka, MN, but not before finding out she was pregnant! My wife Tate and I are expecting a baby girl (our first) in the fall of 2014.
About cars specifically: I’m a Ferrari guy (as heavily evidenced in my first blog). But my tastes run far outside the scope of expensive Italians. I consider myself eclectic: I love old muscle, older dream-liners, new muscle, drift cars from Japan, big diesel trucks from Detroit as well as American staples like the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger. While I have my favorites, I continually challenge myself to explore new brands and seek out the importance and value from models and manufacturers that I either previously didn’t know about, or more importantly, previously didn’t care for. This is one of the many themes I’ll explore in The Wheelspin Journal.

The dedication
This blog is dedicated to my loving wife, Taylor, who not only has always believed in me, but has always supported me. And by support I mean she heroically accepts my obsession with the automobile and its entire peripheral accompaniment.
Further credit must be paid to my father, Jon, who somehow, at some time, passed the bug of loving cars from him to me.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Mellberg
